Mojaxx Reviews Pioneer DJ’s DDJ-REV1 and DDJ-REV7

Mojaxx reviews Pioneer DJ’s new controllers, the DDJ-REV1 and DDJ-REV7 on the first episode of his new Beatsource Tech series. The DDJ-REV1 is an entry-level, two-channel controller for Serato DJ Lite, and the DDJ-REV7 is a two-channel controller for Serato DJ Pro with motorized platters that provides the mixer and turntable experience in one unit.

Both are part of the new DDJ-REV series that takes inspiration for its layout from a professional DJM-S mixer plus turntable setup and adds innovative features for open format DJs.

“The ‘REV’ series of controllers are a new and exciting chapter for Serato and Pioneer DJ,” says Serato Chief Strategy Officer Nick Maclaren. “Following up on the DDJ-SB3 was never going to be easy, with a brand new layout and innovative features we’re confident beginners are going to love learning on DDJ-REV1. For our professional DJs, the DDJ-REV7 is one of the most powerful controllers we’ve ever worked on and it’s exciting to have motorized jog wheels make their debut on a Pioneer DJ controller.”

Mojaxx Reviews The Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX3

AlphaTheta Corporation has announced the release of the new, portable XDJ-RX3 from its Pioneer DJ brand. This 2-channel performance all-in-one DJ system has new features from the club-standard CDJ-3000 multiplayer and DJM-900NXS2 mixer, plus a brand-new 10.1-inch touch screen. Like before, you can choose whether to play rekordbox-analyzed tracks from USB drives or connect a laptop to unlock rekordbox Performance mode. As well, support for Serato DJ Pro is also included – coming in early 2022.

The 10.1-inch touch screen on the XDJ-RX3 has a higher resolution and frame rate than the previous
model, featuring an interface that makes it quicker and easier to browse your music, and the browse section comes from the CDJ-3000. In addition, you can switch between viewing the pad status or Beat FX and the X-Pad with one tap on the screen. Plus, with support for the 3Band Waveform feature from the CDJ-3000, you can see the volume levels of different frequency ranges in rekordbox-analyzed tracks. This allows for a clear visual representation of how they sound.

To use the XDJ-RX3 with rekordbox Performance mode, you’ll need to update to the latest version of the
software, rekordbox for Mac/Windows (ver. 6.6.0), which will be released on November 16, 2021. In addition, from early 2022, you’ll be able to use the unit with Serato DJ Pro by updating to the latest version of the software.

Pioneer DJ‘s latest flagship multi-player is now an official Serato accessory via the newest upgrade to Serato DJ Pro, Serato DJ Pro’s 2.5.7.
