Is IKEA x Swedish House Mafia’s DJ Gear Any Good? | Beatsource Tech

Retail giant IKEA has just dropped a collaboration with their fellow countrymen Swedish House Mafia. They’ve designed around 20 products for the OBEGRÄNSAD line, many of which are aimed at DJs and producers. On this episode of Beatsource Tech, Mojaxx takes a trip to his local store to pick some up, and explores if buying DJ gear from a furniture company is a good idea.

Nanoleaf DJ Lighting? Engine 2.3 and Soundswitch 2.6 Updates | Beatsource Tech

The latest updates for the Engine DJ ecosystem have just been released, with version 2.3 of the desktop software and hardware OS bringing a bunch of bug fixes and quality of life improvements.

But the big news is found in version 2.6 of Soundswitch, which follows the earlier Philips Hue integration with the new ability to synchronise with the Youtuber-favourite Nanoleaf LED panels, promising a stunning light show for live streams and performance videos, with no DMX knowledge required. Beatsource Tech: Silent Cue Is Awesome! (And Now You Can Map It)

The Silent Cue feature has been found in Serato DJ Pro for quite some time, but it has never been midi-mappable from within the software interface. This means that not every user had access to it, unless they wanted to get into some midi XML file trickery.

But in the new 2.6.0 public beta, Silent Cue now can now be midi mapped like any other control, so if you haven’t tried it – now is the time. In this episode of Beatsource Tech, Mojaxx talks through how to map it, and why he likes it so much.

2022 Beyond the Music Retreat Recap

The 2022 Beyond the Music Retreat was one for the books. The educational conference for DJs, which took place from June 13-15 in Arizona, was attended by hundreds of DJs from around the world and featured a variety of discussion panels and networking events.
