DJcity’s 50 Most Downloaded Tracks of 2018

Below is DJcity’s annual chart of the top 50 most downloaded songs of the year. The list was determined by subscriber downloads (the tracks are not DJcity’s picks).

With 11 tracks on the chart, it’s safe to say that 2018 was the year of Drake. Tying in second place with four apiece are Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. And with three tracks on the chart, Tyga officially had a comeback year. Also scoring three each were Post Malone, Calvin Harris, Kendrick Lamar, Offset, and French Montana.

Antriks Reviews DJ Woody’s Scratch Record, ‘Scratch Sounds No. 1’

Battle Avenue director Antriks is back with a new episode of DJcityTV’s Fresh Press. This time around, he reviews DJ Woody‘s vintage-style scratch record, Scratch Sounds No. 1.

Woody worked with a team of musicians to produce the scratch sentences on the record, which were recorded live. It was released through his label, Woodwurk Records, and is available on both 12-inch and seven-inch vinyl.

Donae’o Announces ‘Chalice’ Mix Competition

The talented UK artist Donae’o announces his mix competition for his latest single “Chalice”. The competition is open to DJs and producers to make a mix, mash-up, or remix of his club banger.

The winner will win £200 cash, a chance to work with Donae’o himself, and a dubplate of “Chalice”. Four runner-ups will also get a duplate of “Chalice”.

The link for the instrumental and acapella of the single can be found on Donaeo’s Instagram page. To enter, all you have to do is post your entries on Instagram with the hashtag #chalicemixchallenge and @Donaeo in the post.

The competition closes on 21st December and the winner will be announced by Donae’o on 22nd December.

Spotify Reveals Most-Streamed Artists, Songs, and Albums of 2018

Spotify has revealed its list of the most-streamed artists, songs, and albums of 2018 on the platform.

With over 8.2 billion streams, Drake is not only the most-streamed artist in the world, but he’s also now the most-streamed artist ever on Spotify. Unsurprisingly, Drizzy also had the most-streamed album and song with Scorpion and “God’s Plan.”

Spotify’s top-streamed female artist was Ariana Grande followed by Dua Lipa and Cardi B. Meanwhile, Post Malone scored two of the most-streamed songs with “rockstar” ft. 21 Savage at No. 3 and “Psycho” ft. Ty Dolla $ign at No. 4.

While hip-hop dominated Spotify’s lists, Latin music continued to grow. J Balvin, Ozuna, and Bad Bunny each landed in the top eight of the most-streamed artist’s list.
