The Best Places to Buy Scratch Records
Over the past year, Battle Avenue director Antriks has explored some of the best places for turntablists to find vinyl. On this episode of DJcityTV’s Fresh Press, he shares some of his favorite record shops that cater to scratch DJs.
When shopping for scratch records, Antriks prefers to buy from independent global retailers, local shops, or directly from the record label. Listed below are some of his favorites.

Antriks Reviews DJ Woody’s Scratch Record, ‘Scratch Sounds No. 1’
Battle Avenue director Antriks is back with a new episode of DJcityTV’s Fresh Press. This time around, he reviews DJ Woody‘s vintage-style scratch record, Scratch Sounds No. 1.
Woody worked with a team of musicians to produce the scratch sentences on the record, which were recorded live. It was released through his label, Woodwurk Records, and is available on both 12-inch and seven-inch vinyl.

Antriks Reviews Dusty Donuts’ Seven-Inch Vinyl
After a brief hiatus, Battle Avenue director Antriks is back with a new episode of DJcityTV’s Fresh Press. On this episode, he travels to Germany to dig through the back catalog of Berlin-based label, Dusty Donuts.
The label specializes in reworks of classic hip-hop and funk pressed on seven-inch vinyl. The analog purists at Dusty Donuts also run a booking agency focused on vinyl-only DJs.

DJ QBert is one of the pioneers of break records, and lately, his Thud Rumble company has been releasing digital versions of some of his classics.
On this episode of Fresh Press, Battle Ave’s Antriks and DJ Excess connect at the DJ Expo in Atlantic City to put two of Thud Rumble’s latest releases to the test: QBert’s “All-Star Dirtstyle Battle Rebels” and DJ Happee’s “2nd Hand Smoke Breaks: Extended Edition.”

Antriks Reviews DJ Packo’s Scratch Record, ‘Tax Breaks’
Battle Avenue director Antriks is back with a new episode of DJcityTV’s Fresh Press. In this episode, Antriks meets up with the Battle Avenue Honolulu chapter to review DJ Packo‘s seven-inch scratch record, Tax Breaks.
Packo, who also works as an accountant, has compiled 15 money-themed skipless scratch sentences and one skipless drum break for the record. Tax Breaks is available now from Skratchmore.

Antriks Reviews Vekked and Fresh Kils’ Scratch Record, ‘Fresh Cuts’
Battle Avenue director Antriks has returned with a new episode of DJcityTV’s Fresh Press series. This time, he reviews Vekked, and Fresh Kils‘ seven-inch scratch record, Fresh Cuts.
Released through Fresherthan Records, Fresh Cuts features a mix of unique sounds meant for both scratching and beat juggling. Side A includes four skipless sentences and Side B contains four skipless drum loops.

Antriks Reviews DJ Woody’s Scratch Record, ‘Flexicuts 4’
As the world of turntablism continues to grow, DJs seek new ways to push the boundaries of scratch records. UK turntablist DJ Woody has done just that with his Flexicuts series. Released through his label Woodwurk Records, it is the first skip-proof scratch tool pressed on the flexible material known as flexi disc.
On the third episode of DJcityTV’s Fresh Press, Battle Avenue director Antriks tests out the fourth Flexicuts release with the help of Woody and his Grind Strip device.

With the sound of hip-hop constantly evolving, some fans prefer beats with a more classic feel. DJ A1, Erykah Badu’s official DJ and member of the Lost Tone Pros collective, takes listeners back to the golden age on his instrumental record, A1BEATSTRUMENTAL V1.
On episode two of the DJcityTV Fresh Press series, Battle Avenue director Antriks reviews the vinyl-only release. The record includes six tracks, which Antriks notes for its “soulful, hip-hop vibe.”

On the first episode, Antriks reviews DJ TGK‘s Clear Cuts Vol. 1 seven-inch. The record was released on UK turntablism label, Up2Scratch.
