New York City’s Kasey Berry has dropped a dancehall-influenced mix for the DJcity Podcast. Her half-hour set features Afrobeats, Latin, R&B, reggae, and more.

Music Production School ICON Collective Announces Black Voices Scholarship 2020

Los Angeles-based music production school ICON Collective has announced this year’s Black Voices Scholarship initiative in collaboration with Beatport, Beatsource, and digital music distribution service DistroKid. ICON’s annual scholarship was concieved in the hopes “that by extending avenues for Black creatives to join our Collective, we can contribute to a positive shift in the antiquated status quo.”

The scholarship provides an opportunity for three Black artists to attend the school’s Music Production, Music Business, or Vocal Artist programs (one scholarship per program). Each recipient will receive a scholarship worth $19,500, 75% of the cost of their chosen one-year program.

Recipients will also receive a $1000 Gear Grant and Perk Package on behalf of DistroKid for required class materials, a six-month subscription to either Beatport LINK or Beatsource LINK, an Ableton Live 10 license, and more.

Applications are being accepted until August 17, with scholarship recipients being announced between September 14 and 21. Applicants must be United States citizens at least 17 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, and be able to enroll in ICON Collective’s Los Angeles program within one year of scholarship acceptance.
