Watch 808 Melo Explain How He Made Pop Smoke’s ‘Dior’

Producer 808 Melo recently sat down with Genius for a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Pop Smoke‘s “Dior.”

The slow-burning “Brooklyn drill”-style single peaked in Billboard’s Top 40 at #22 and was his first solo hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

Only 20 years old, the East London-based producer has successfully blended equal parts of UK grime, Chicago drill, and New York’s take on trap, combining it into a unique, exciting musical subgenre. In breaking down the making of “Dior,” take particular note to how he discusses how much space and room he gives the artist to be able to both rap and ad-lib. Impressively, there’s a “less is more” to what 808 Melo does. As much as Pop Smoke was credited for having such a unique voice, the track he’s rapping over is almost specifically engineered to highlight exactly what he did, and how he did it.

Scissors and Tall Boys Release New Single ‘World Hold On’ Feat. Cam on DJcity Records

Swiss DJ/production duo Scissors pairs with Los Angeles’ Tall Boys and vocalist Cam for an update of Bob Sinclar and Steve Edwards‘ 2006 hit “World Hold On.” The DJcity Records release replaces the trance-style house vibes with a much deeper flavor.

Scissors excels at refreshing classic hits with new, bass-heavy energy. Most recently, for DJcity, they remixed Madonna‘s 2008 smash “4 Minutes. The Tall Boys have been DJcity exclusive remixers for years and are regulars on DJcity’s Most Downloaded Tracks chart.

Serato Announces Serato DJ Pro 2.3.7 With Support for Pioneer DJ DJM-V10 Mixer

The latest update to Serato DJ Pro has arrived and includes support for the Pioneer DJ DJM-V10 mixer. With Serato DJ Pro 2.3.7 and a Serato DJ Club Kit license or subscription, DJs can fully tap into the capabilities of the six-channel mixer.

By using Serato DJ Pro or Serato DVS, DJs are able to control up to four decks, while the mixer offers a number of ways to creatively sculpt your sound including four-band EQ, filters, and effects.

Serato’s Chief Strategy Officer Nick Maclaren says “The Pioneer DJ DJM-V10 gives professional DJs all the flexibility and creativity they need. It’s the first 6-channel mixer supported in Serato, and we’re excited for DJs to be able to add extra instruments and dimensions to their set, while keeping control over the 4 decks in Serato DJ Pro.”
