69Beats delivered a dynamic performance, dropping his signature tone play and finger drumming techniques using Pioneer DJ’s DDJ-XP1. His energetic 53-minute set included genres like future funk, trap, twerk, and more.

69Beats also gave a quick interview in which he discussed why he switched to rekordbox, his plans for 2018, and how he chose his name.

69Beats, the 2016 Red Bull 3Style Poland Champion, has started a new tutorial series called Button Pushing for DJs.

The lessons help DJs of all types learn advanced techniques like tone play, finger drumming, and pitch playing, and integrate them into their party sets.

69Beats is known for his creative and well-executed routines, and more recently for tutorials. He was featured on DJcityTV’s Bedroom Sessions and Tone Play series in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

“[The techniques] help you make your set more entertaining and add a whole new vibe to the tracks you play,” the 28-year-old DJ says in the first episode. “And they can help you get out of some trouble if something unwanted happens. And the best thing about them, in my opinion, is that they really help you get the attention of the crowd.”

The first episode takes a look at basic finger drumming patterns. He encourages DJs to follow along using his tutorials on the educational software, Melodics.

69Beats, the 2016 Red Bull Thre3style Poland Champion, has shared some advice on how to create a Thre3style routine. The 28-year-old DJ has been inspired to help beginner DJs as the submission process for this year’s competition approaches.

In a lengthy message posted to Facebook and YouTube, 69Beats broke down his “Fire Story” sequence, which he performed at last year’s world finals. The sequence is based on “storytelling,” a technique in which a DJ strings together multiple “word plays” to tell a story.

“Storytelling is nothing new in [the] DJ world,” 69Beats wrote on Facebook. “There are many, many sets with many different approaches to storytelling. For me storytelling was a natural ‘level-up’ from just simple word play.”

He continued: “While preparing for Thre3style 2016 I wanted to take [it] a little further for myself so instead of just mixing tracks with the same phrases I started collecting tracks that had the same theme and doing bigger combos of them. And while [I was] collecting ‘fire’ themed songs I started to see that some of them [were] actualy [sic] creating a sequence of events and decided to make a full routine based on that.”

69Beats also wanted the routine to be veristile [sic] as possible. “The whole sequence is flavoured with as many different techniques as possible – scratching, juggling, tone playing/pitch playing, fingerdrumming [sic], cue point drumming etc.”
