Like Son Drops New House Single ‘Freakin’
New 23-year-old UK house and bass music producer, Like Son presents his debut single Freakin’ via NewState Music. Freakin’ received a world exclusive first play via Danny Howard, on BBC Radio 1. Danny is now championing the record, and selected it as his ‘Friday Fire’ on SoundCloud. Freakin’ shows off Like Son’s house and bass influences, with a hard-hitting groove, and hooky vocal line.

DJcity and Battle Ave. to Host Portablism Session in Spain

DJ Excess, a member of the legendary Ned Hoddings crew, is currently touring to promote his new seven-inch break record, Killable Syllables. The release is a collaboration between Battle Avenue and French portablism company, Mixfader.
The tour will make stops in USA and Europe, with each event featuring a performance from Excess and private “Portable Meet.” Portable Meet is a new event and video series that brings together DJs for unique scratch sessions.
The meet in Madrid, Spain, which is supported by DJcity and Skratcher, will be open to the public. It will take place at Parque del Retiro on May 3 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Watch Boogie Blind’s Routine for ‘5 Minutes of Funk’
DJ Boogie Blind, a member of the influential X-Ecutioners crew, has been featured on Funkmaster Flex’s “5 Minutes of Funk” segment for Hot 97.
The Harlem turntablist showed off his skills in a 15-minute routine that used mostly classic hip-hop tracks and breakbeats.

Unreleased Footage of DJcity Scratch Session
In February, DJcity hosted a scratch session at its studio in Los Angeles. The event, which was live streamed, featured turntablists like Trentino, Yonny, FlipFlop, PattyClover, Xist, Spinobi, and Styles Davis. Watch some unreleased footage of the session above.
First Look: Serato Sample
Producers have been eager to get their hands on Serato Sample ever since its introduction last week. The plugin is currently in private beta, though, which means that not everyone who applies will be accepted.
Thankfully, Mojaxx has given a “first look” at Sample to provide an overview of its features and clear up any confusion.

London’s Nightcrashers Drop DJcity Podcast Mix
Both originally from Paris, Charles Prince and DJ Jojo met in London. Individually established as two of the West End’s hottest DJs, they realised that combining their distinct styles and experience was an explosive formula. This unique blend of energy sparked into the Nightcrashers. Like their DJ sets, the Nightcrashers sound is a cocktail of different genres. Their fearless use of bone crushing basslines, loud banging drums and hypnotic melodies is the Nightcrashers trademark.
The Nightcrashers are currently working on new original material for themselves as well as remixes for underground and mainstream artists. Stay tuned as the Nightcrashers EP is due to be released May this year. Stream or download their edition of the DJcity Podcast below.
