Pioneer DJ announced the DDJ-1000 on Tuesday, the latest controller for their rekordbox DJ software.
A four-channel device, the DDJ-1000 features CDJ size jog wheels which contain full color central displays. They can be customized to display various types of information, including BPM, waveforms, and cue points.
The controller’s mixer section includes a lot of familiar effects from the DJM mixer range, as well as some new effects like Enigma Jet, Mobius Saw, Mobius Triangle, and Low Cut Echo.
The DDJ-1000 also features two USB ports for DJ switching, 16 performance pads, and a license for the rekordbox DJ performance software.
It will be available mid-January at a price of $1,199. Check out Pioneer DJ’s website for more information and watch the introduction video below, which features Red Bull 3Style world finalist, Deejay Irie.

Pioneer DJ Release Rekordbox 5.0 and Announce The DDJ-XP1 Controller

After a period of public beta testing, Pioneer DJ today released Rekordbox 5.0, the latest version of their track preparation and performance software.
This introduces their new KORETECH engine, which promises to allow advanced track analysis, faster track loading and scrolling, and offer improved performance under the hood for both audio and video.
It also brings with it a redesigned graphical interface, and a number of new features, including:
Support for the DJM-S9 mixer
16 cue points
New key shift, key sync, and keyboard mode
Ability to import files and metadata from USB devices
DDJ-XP1
The company also announced a new add-on controller designed to work alongside the new software, the DDJ-XP1. This takes advantage of the new features in Rekordbox 5.0, with 32 performance pads to control Hot Cues, Pad FX, Beat Jump, Sampler, Beat Loop and the new Key Shift and Keyboard modes. It also features touch strips for FX control, and can be powered by the USB connection alone. The interface can also be customised by the user, and it includes licences for the Rekordbox DJ performance software and the DVS plugin for vinyl control.
To accompany the DDJ-XP1, Pioneer DJ are also set to release a stand, the DJC-STS1, in November, designed to hold the controller or a laptop. And new colour variations of their Rekordbox control vinyl will now be available, with white, red, blue and clear alongside the standard black.
Rekordbox 5 can be downloaded now from the Rekordbox website, and the DDJ-XP1 will be available in late September, priced at $249.

Pioneer DJ Announces Rekordbox Audio Interface

Pioneer DJ Interface 2 (Photo source: Pioneer DJ
Pioneer DJ has announced the Interface 2, the missing piece of the Rekordbox DJ puzzle.
Until now, the company’s Rekordbox DJ software and DVS plugin only worked with some of its mixers and controllers. Older Pioneer models and those from other manufacturers were not supported.
However, the Interface 2 enables DJs with any setup to use Rekordbox DJ in a DVS system with control vinyl (a pair is included with the interface), CDs, and USB drives.
As its name implies, the Interface 2 has two stereo channels, which limits it to two decks. Many DJs will find that to be enough, although the product’s name has already sparked speculation about future models with more channels.
The Interface 2 is due to be released in early July with a price tag of $299. It appears to be a great value, considering it includes a license for Rekordbox DJ and the DVS plugin.

Does Rekordbox DJ Live Up to the Hype?
Pioneer DJ shook up the industry last October when it released its standalone performance software, Rekordbox DJ. The company has since added DVS functionality, more hardware support, and most recently, video support. But do all the bells and whistles make Rekordbox DJ a worthy competitor to Serato DJ and Traktor Pro? Watch this week’s episode of Tips & Tricks above to find out.
