Apple Music’s ‘Fire in the Booth’ Expands into Germany

Apple Music is expanding Fire in the Booth, the popular freestyle rap platform created by hip-hop DJ Charlie Sloth, into Germany.

Rap continues to rule the charts in Germany and starting from 16th May, the rap show, which has amassed over 1.4 billion views (across Apple Music and YouTube), will launch on Apple Music in Germany presented by DJ Maxxx.

Commenting on the launch, Charlie Sloth said: “I’m super excited that the Fire in the Booth brand is launching in Germany. There is so much talent in Germany right now and it will give the artist community a platform to showcase their skills to the world. I feel that DJ Maxxx is the right person to bring that authenticity as the host.”

Charlie Sloth, one of the leading hip-hop radio DJs in the UK, has announced that he’s leaving BBC Radio for Apple Music.

Sloth, who has been with the network for a decade, has hosted shows on Radio 1 and 1Xtra. His rap freestyle segment “Fire in the Booth” is globally renowned. The segment has featured appearances from Drake, Stormzy, Big Shaq, and many more.

It hasn’t been revealed what his role at Apple Music will be, but there is speculation that he will be hosting a new show on Beats 1 and contributing to the platform’s playlists.

Sloth isn’t the only BBC host to leave for Apple Music. In 2015, Zane Lowe departed the network to launch a show on Beats 1.

Watch Charlie Sloth’s Live Set at 1Xtra’s Takeover in Ibiza

Last weekend seen the BBC on the lively Balearic island of Ibiza. UK’s recognised urban DJ, Charlie Sloth dropped a live set at the BBC Radio 1Xtra Takeover at Ibiza Rocks.

He dropped a half-hour DJ set consisting of UK and US hip hop, afrobeats, and a selection of throwbacks.

Charlie Sloth Interview With DJ Dubl

London’s DJ Dubl sat down with Charlie Sloth to talk about his new album “The Plug”, which he produced himself and features the biggest names in UK rap and grime, as well as diversifying the sound of the album, bringing in afrobeat artists, making RnB and even producing a reggae record with Donaeo and Konshens!
