Dutch DJ/production duo Stavros Martina and Kevin D have linked up for another DJcity exclusive remix. This time, The Champs’ 1958 classic “Tequila” —  a top-20 hit that year that has remained popular ever since — gets an exciting moombahton refresh.

The original’s Latin jazz flavor is preserved, and the tempo is dropped into a groove that matches the cool vibe of the famous saxophone solo. The dembow riddim under the chopped, bright horns and the groove in the melody is the spotlight here.

Regarding the remix, Stavros Martina says “Kevin D and I were chilling in the home studio, and I saw a full bottle of tequila. I said to Kevin D, ‘TEQUILA!’ He said what!? So I repeated: ‘TEQUILA!’ Then I sang the song. He thought it was an awesome idea for a remix. One day later, the remix was finished. One week later, we still had the remix in our heads and kept playing it over and over!”

Dutch DJ/production duo Stavros Martina and Kevin D have linked up for another DJcity exclusive remix. This time, Corona’s Eurodance classic “Rhythm of the Night” —  a global top-ten smash in 1994 — gets a modern refresh.

Gone are the racing synths and manic energy. Instead, they’re replaced with a soothing dembow rhythm aided by the booming soprano vocal chopped into a melodic line all its own.

Regarding the remix, Martina says “the track was a special project. We made it to save the nightlife.  It means let’s save the clubs…because [the coronavirus] is doing a lot of damage to the nightlife. ‘Save the rhythm of the night’ is a nice quote. Let’s save the night together and work together to help each other in these [coronavirus] times.”

Minaj’s most commercially successful pop song gets added thump in the bottom end here. This addition to RedOne’s original Eurodance-inspired production alongside Minaj’s rap vocals lends a Dutch house feel to the remix.
