Freejak Remixes David Guetta and Sia’s ‘Titanium’: DJcity Exclusive

UK-based DJ and producer Freejak has delivered a heavy tech house style take on David Guetta and Sia‘s decade-old collaboration “Titanium.” The racing synth builds of the Billboard US Dance number-one hit pair well with thumping house rhythms on the track to take little from the energy of the original but still allow the remix to retain its own unique energy.

“For me Titanium has to be one of the most finely crafted songs in the dance music pantheon. It’s a song that could translate to any style from acoustic, to Rock to Club to country and it would still stand up,” Freejak says. “I can remember playing this track at festivals and clubs and feeling incredibly lucky to be a DJ at that point in time, and those moments will definitely stay with me forever. I tried to envelope many influences with tech house style bass lines, house style heavy drums and uplifting Progressive leads but allowing the incurable vocal to take pride of place where it should rightfully be.”

Nottingham-based  DJ/producer Andy Jarvis has dropped his first DJcity premier. The up-and-comer has delivered a heavy, techy take on German house producer Tom Novy’s 2004 hit “Your Body.”

“As I usually remix current releases, for example; Meduza, Dua Lipa, and an official remix for Ed Sheeran, it’s been very refreshing to remix older big house classics,” Jarvis says. “Combining my own sound and spin to the classics is allowing myself to merge both old and new into one modernized sound… I enjoy combining the tech house alongside an element of big room with a hard hitting, powerful drop.”

Dutch DJ/producer Rogerson is back with another remix exclusively for DJcity. This time, it’s a refreshing, funky take on Zedd and Foxes‘ 2012 big room smash “Clarity.” The emotive dance ballad was a triple-platinum-selling hit that reached the top of Billboard’s Dance Music chart and was a top-10 charter on Billboard’s Hot 100.

“For me, Zedd is one of the greatest producers out there,” Rogerson says. “Because of that, it wasn’t easy to create a theme for this remix, as its original is so good already! I like dark deep sounds for my remixes, but this one wouldn’t fit… because of it’s musical key. So I made the choice to create something completely different, and I think it worked out really well!”

Sage The Gemini‘s 2013 hit “Gas Pedal” has been given a bass-heavy twerk refresh by Mark Cutz exclusively for DJcity.

“I actually approached this remix as an original track,” Cutz says. “I had zero ideas of putting the ‘Gas Pedal’ vocals over it because I was just focused on making something funky [and] bouncy. The track was built around the triangle instrument that is sprinkled throughout. I was recently listening to some classics, and heard that same triangle instrument on Nu Shooz‘s “I Can’t Wait” from the 80s. That’s what gave me the motivation to give you guys this remix of ‘Gas Pedal!’”
