DJ Stonic Launches Netflix Parody Series, ‘Scratchflix’

Stonic, a former Red Bull Music 3Style and DMC contender, has launched a Netflix parody series titled Scratchflix. Each episode is a routine that combines turntablism with references to popular Netflix shows and movies.

So far, Scratchflix has released two episodes: “Boscratch Horseman,” a spoof of the animated series, BoJack Horseman, and “Scratch Mirror,” a parody of the sci-fi anthology, Black Mirror.

DJ White Shadow and D-JR Form New Duo, Drop First Release: DJcity Exclusive

Lady Gaga collaborator DJ White Shadow and Red Bull Music 3Style competitor D-JR have formed a new group called WS+JR. The duo will release remixes and edits of classic party tracks and current heaters.

To kick things off, WS+JR have dropped an edit of 2 Chainz‘s 2012 anthem, “I’m Different.” It is available exclusively on DJcity.

The duo is also set to embark on a worldwide tour, with dates to be announced soon.

Serato Announces ‘Serato Studio’ Production Software

UPDATE (MAY 1): Serato has reopened the beta after putting it on pause.

Serato on Wednesday announced its entry into the music production market with its Serato Studio software.

The application aims to lower the barrier to entry for DJs who are interested in music production. Features include access to the Serato DJ library, waveform displays, cue points, and time-stretching and key detection with Pitch ‘n Time.

Serato Studio works with a range of Serato-enabled hardware such as mixers and controllers, allowing them to function as MIDI controllers.

It is currently available as a limited public beta. Upon its full release, Serato Studio will be available via subscription to allow for regular software updates and additional sample content.

DJ Tina T Talks Competing on ‘Master of the Mix’ on ‘R.O.A.D. Podcast’

Following their highly anticipated interview with A-Trak and Roctakon, the R.O.A.D. Podcast sat down with veteran DJ Tina T.

Based in Los Angeles, Tina is best known for founding Camp Spin Off, a DJ camp for teens. She also competed on the third season of VH1’s Master of the Mix reality show and DJ competition.

Tina discussed a variety of topics in the interview, including what it was like competing on Master of the Mix.

Vega Delivers ‘DJcity Podcast’ Mix

After being featured on DJcityTV’s Bedroom Sessions series last week, Seattle’s Vega has served up a half-hour mix for the DJcity Podcast. His set, which was recorded in one take, features mostly hip-hop.

Vega is a mixer on KUBE 93.3 and resident at Aston Manor. He’s also a former Red Bull Music 3Style regional finalist.
