Freejak Remixes Fat Joe’s ‘What’s Luv’ Feat. Ashanti: DJcity Exclusive

(Source: Freejak)

UK-based DJ/producer Freejak has flipped Fat Joe and Ashanti‘s 2002 collaboration What’s Luv,” exclusively for DJcity. Upon its release, the song reached number two on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and was Fat Joe’s first-ever top-ten pop single.

Freejak’s ability to concentrate on the most house-friendly elements of this track allows it to excel as a remix. Ashanti’s vocal, as well as the 8-bit style synths in the track’s melody are highlighted. The bottom end’s original rap breaks are replaced by quicker-paced, house-style, four-on-the-floor percussion.

Freejak notes: “’What’s Luv’ is such a feel-good track. And I think we all need a bit of feel-good these days. My task was just to purely open up this classic to the dance music community. As always I hope this puts a smile on someone’s face and can get a head or two bobbing.

Preview the remix below and download it exclusively on DJcity.
