Freejak Remixes Katy Perry’s ‘Dark Horse’ Feat. Juicy J: DJcity Premiere

UK-based DJ and producer Freejak is back with a new remix of Katy Perry‘s 2013 hit, “Dark Horse” featuring Juicy J. The track was originally released as the first promotional single from Perry’s fourth studio album, Prism.

Regarding the remix, Freejak says, “Love or hate the pop princesses, you can’t deny they have the best songs and the best voices. The original is an absolute master class in less is more and how minimal production can still make a huge sound. So it was an absolute pleasure working on “Dark Horse”, I hope the DJs like it.”

Katy Perry Loses ‘Dark Horse’ Copyright Lawsuit

After a week-long trial, a California jury has decided that Katy Perry‘s 2013 hit “Dark Horse” unlawfully borrowed elements from another song.

Christian rapper Flame, a.k.a. Marcus Gray, claimed that the hit song copied the beat of his 2008 track “Joyful Noise.” Perry and Dr. Luke, who co-produced “Dark Horse,” both insisted that they had no prior knowledge of Flame’s song.

The jury has yet to decide on how much Perry and her collaborators, who also include featured artist Juicy J and co-producer Max Martin, owe Flame in damages.
