Following his and Diplo’s massive remix of “B#tch Better Have My Money,” Toronto’s Grandtheft has returned with another genre-blending track titled “Hold On.”
The 133 BPM collab with fellow Canadian Sleepy Tom contains elements of Jersey club, trap, and R&B. It is the first single off Grandtheft’s upcoming EP via Mad Decent, Quit This City.
Grandtheft told Billboard: “This past January, [Sleepy Tom] came to my Toronto studio with an idea that would become ‘Hold On.’ We built it out with some of my analog synths…Huge [Roland] Jupiter 6 chords and some Moog bassline business.”

If you enjoy bass and handclaps then Grandtheft’s official remix of T.I.’s Iggy Azalea-assisted banger “No Medicore” might be for you. The original was the 16th most-downloaded track on DJcity in June and the Toronto native’s twerk rework increases it by about five BPM.

Grandtheft has been killing it this year. His remix of Calvin Harris’ “Summer” with Diplo has received over five million SoundCloud plays and his collaboration with Keys N Krates, “Keep It 100,” has amassed over one million.
