New Music: Diplo’s ‘Set Me Free’ & ‘Be Right There’

Diplo released two strong tracks on his Mad Decent label this week that are must-listens for any club DJ.

The first single, “Be Right There,” is an uptempo collaboration with Canada’s Sleepy Tom that samples Jade’s 1992 R&B classic, “Don’t Walk Away.”

The second single, “Set Me Free,” is a surefire trap anthem that features the sultry vocals of Mad Decent’s LIZ.

Following his and Diplo’s massive remix of “B#tch Better Have My Money,” Toronto’s Grandtheft has returned with another genre-blending track titled “Hold On.”

The 133 BPM collab with fellow Canadian Sleepy Tom contains elements of Jersey club, trap, and R&B. It is the first single off Grandtheft’s upcoming EP via Mad Decent, Quit This City.

Grandtheft told Billboard: “This past January, [Sleepy Tom] came to my Toronto studio with an idea that would become ‘Hold On.’ We built it out with some of my analog synths…Huge [Roland] Jupiter 6 chords and some Moog bassline business.”
