Robin Roij & Da Phonk Remix Akon’s ‘Right Now (Na Na Na)’: DJcity Premiere

Dutch DJs/producers Robin Roij and Da Phonk team up to release a new remix of Akon‘s “Right Now (Na Na Na).” The original is the lead single from Akon’s third studio album, Freedom.
Regarding the remix, the duo says, “We both loved this song so much, but could never play it with the energy we wanted. So we decided to create a remix of it that would fit our sets. It was a joy to collab again and flip this classic into a banger!”

“We always love playing this classic tune in our sets,” the duo noted. “So we both thought it’s time for a 2021 version with a heavy buildup towards a banging drop.”

Dutchman Da Phonk and Colombia’s Luis R have teamed up for a remix of Notch’s 2001 reggae hit “Nuttin Nuh Go So.” Based on the same riddim behind Sean Paul‘s 2002 reggaeton anthem “Like Glue,” the duo imbues their remix with a fun, poppy feel.
Regarding the remix, Da Phonk and Luis R says that they “really enjoyed turning this classic dancehall tune into a bouncing 2021 remix,” because they both “love and play the original a lot!” Da Phonk says “on top of Luis’ bassline and chords, we added my type of drum groove and arrangement. That’s what made the perfect combination for this collaboration. We tried to create a new warm vibe so it will fit a little better in current 2021 sets with more energy and pumping beats.”

Da Phonk & J Rythm Remix Daddy Yankee’s ‘Tu Principe’: DJcity Exclusive

Dutch DJ/producer Da Phonk and Los Angeles’ J Rythm have given a banging, dembow-driven refresh to Daddy Yankee‘s Zion y Lennox collaboration “Tu Principe.” Upon its release in 2005, the song cracked the top 40 of Billboard’s Hot Latin charts and has remained a Latin club favorite ever since.
Da Phonk notes: “When I heard this classic banger, I knew right away that I could make a pumping 2020 remix! With the special touch of my buddy from LA, we made a remix with heavy build-ups and a banging moombahton drop.” J Rythm continues, “We felt [like] keeping the original vibe but flipping the drop into a moombah kinda style, by chopping up some vocal samples to create lots of energy.”

Dutch duo Da Phonk and Rogerson‘s latest remix is a funky take on Jason Derulo‘s horn-heavy 2013 hit “Talk Dirty.” The duo’s latest DJcity exclusive remix maintains the groove of the original track while adding some fun moombahton flavor to the mix.
“We gave this classic banger a pumping 2020 touch with some fresh moombahton percussions, [and] groovy basslines!” the duo says. “Going back and forth on what was best for the track, we decided to keep a bit of the original beats just after the intro and create a heavy build-up towards a massive drop.” Rogerson continues, “We felt [like] keeping that original renowned saxophone melody and chopping it up a bit so the drop would really drive the energy at a higher level.”
