DJcity Exclusive: TWRK and LAMBO Release New Track, ‘Independent’

TWRK

Mad Decent-signed duo TWRK and Canadian producer LAMBO share at least one thing in common: they’ve both had their tracks played by Diplo and Skrillex. With support like that and a previous collab with 170,000 SoundCloud plays, it makes sense that they’d team up again.

Titled “Independent,” TWRK and LAMBO’s latest heater is built on hard-hitting drums, a Middle Eastern-style melody, and a catchy hook. Stream and download it exclusively on DJcity.

Sean Paul Remixes Jidenna’s ‘Classic Man’

Sean Paul

Sean Paul is a rarity in dancehall music. Throughout his 15-year career, the Jamaican artist has remained relevant by consistently dropping club hits. From timeless anthems like “Deport Them” and “Gimme the Light” to recent collaborations with Major Lazer and Enrique Iglesias, Paul continues to be heard in clubs around the world.

Now, for his latest effort, the 42-year-old takes a break from his usual dancehall and reggaeton production to remix Jidenna’s “Classic Man.” Aptly-titled “Ganja Man,” the new version features Paul’s distinctive voice over the original’s catchy instrumental.

Stream his remix below and download it on DJcity. Big ups to DJ Chino for the tip!

Spotify’s Top 10 Most Viral Tracks

Jai Wolf

As with many aspects of the music industry, the Internet has revolutionized the way charts are used by consumers and professionals. The web has also spawned non-traditional lists from streaming and recognition services like Spotify and Shazam.

The main benefit of charts from services like these is that they’re more immediate and predictive than traditional ones like the Billboard Hot 100, which up until recently, were limited to data from sales and radio. As we all know, metrics like sales and radio plays have become less important in the dynamic and fast-moving digital age.

Indeed, there have been numerous number ones on Shazam’s Top 100 that eventually became chart-toppers on Billboard. Recognizing its ability to predict hits, Shazam itself has become vocal in identifying what they believe are future anthems.

Spotify’s Viral 50 chart can also be used to predict hits. While it’s too early to know if their latest chart contains any future number ones, we recommend checking out which songs are rising the fastest.

Below is a list of Spotify’s most viral tracks from July 31 to August 6. The chart is based on the number of people who shared divided by the number of those who listened.
