Watch Major Lazer’s ‘Particula’ Video Feat. DJ Maphorisa, Nasty C, Ice Prince, Patoranking & Jidenna

Major Lazer turns back time in the video for their Afrobeats and dancehall-influenced track, “Particula.” The visual depicts life in Johannesburg in the 1970s.

“Particula,” which appears on Major Lazer’s Know No Better EP, features South African DJ Maphorisa, rapper Nasty C, Nigerian artists Ice Prince and Patoranking, and Nigerian-American artist Jidenna.

South African director Adriaan Louw discussed the idea behind the video in a press release:

“I’ve always wanted to shoot a film like this in Johannesburg. It was creating an ideal world within Joburg that was based in the 70s. I wanted it to feel like we were shooting a documentary of the culture that could have been in a city where disco, funk, Fela Kuti was everywhere.”

Sean Paul Remixes Jidenna’s ‘Classic Man’

Sean Paul is a rarity in dancehall music. Throughout his 15-year career, the Jamaican artist has remained relevant by consistently dropping club hits. From timeless anthems like “Deport Them” and “Gimme the Light” to recent collaborations with Major Lazer and Enrique Iglesias, Paul continues to be heard in clubs around the world.
 
Now, for his latest effort, the 42-year-old takes a break from his usual dancehall and reggaeton production to remix Jidenna’s “Classic Man.” Aptly-titled “Ganja Man,” the new version features Paul’s distinctive voice over the original’s catchy instrumental.

If you’ve ever heard Kid Cut Up’s bootlegs or seen him rock a party, you’d know that he’s got a knack for dropping dope blends of unexpected tracks. His latest release strengthens that reputation, as it combines the instrumental and acapella of two of the summer’s hottest songs: Major Lazer and DJ Snake’s “Lean On” and Jidenna’s “Classic Man.” You might not have expected it, but the two tracks sound great together.

Jidenna Gets Dapper in ‘Classic Man’ Video


 
Jidenna is a new artist signed to Janelle Monae’s Wondaland Records and his debut single “Classic Man” featuring Roman GianArthur is buzzing. The video for the Brooklyn singer’s mid-tempo anthem is great too, as it features plenty of fancy outfits and a cameo from Monae herself. The track is a favorite here at DJcity and we expect it to get a lot more play.
