Review: Pioneer DJ DDJ-RB Controller

Pioneer DJ DDJ-RB

After a two-week break, DJcityTV’s Mojaxx has returned with a review of Pioneer DJ’s latest entry-level controller, the DDJ-RB.

With a price tag of $249, the DDJ-RB is everything you’d expect from a basic two-channel controller. However, it also comes with a license for the rekordbox dj performance software, which alone costs $129. That means that for only $120 more, you can get rekordbox dj along with a well-made beginner controller.

But is the deal worth it? Find out above in this week’s episode of Tips and Tricks.

Lost Frequencies, a rising DJ/producer from Belgium, has dropped a deep house remix of Major Lazer‘s latest single, “Cold Water,” featuring Justin Bieber and MO. The original version is currently number two on Billboard’s Hot 100, having been on the chart just five weeks.

The rework adds 22 BPM and features Lost Frequencies’ signature production style, which often contains vocals and guitars.

Lost Frequencies’ breakout came in 2014 with his multi-platinum single, “Are You With Me.” It was originally released as a remix of Easton Corbin’s country song of the same title.

In 2012, Pitbull and TJR teamed up for the bounced-influenced hit, “Don’t Stop the Party.” The single went double platinum in the US and peaked at number 17 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Today, TJR has returned with an official remix of Pit’s funky new single, “Greenlight,” featuring Flo Rida and LunchMoney Lewis. The new version marks a change in TJR’s direction, as the production style is more future house than bounce. The result, however, is just as potent.

Last updated: 9/1/16

The 2016 DMC US Finals took place in Oakland, California on Sunday, but it turns out they announced the wrong winner.

Christie Z-Pabon, CEO of DMC USA, has revealed that their team made a “major mistake” in their calculation and incorrectly awarded the championship to New York’s DJ Perly. The actual winner of the battle was, in fact, San Jose’s DJ Traps.

“As you may know, DMC gives 3 points for each No1 vote, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd,” Pabon explained in the post. “Unfortunately in the heat of battle our team added points the opposite way round. This meant that the actual winner (TRAPS) came third whilst placed (PERLY) appeared to be the winner, but actually took second.”

Traps, along with the other national champions, will go on to compete at the DMC World Finals in London on September 24.

Also, in light of the mistake, Pabon said the DMC will allow Perly to advance straight to the next US Finals in 2017.

Read Pabon’s full statement below and stay tuned for a video of Traps’ winning set.

Well alrighty then… Just heard they tallied up the votes wrong and @djtraps won the USA finals instead of @djperly ???? @dmc_world
