Richastic Remixes Rihanna’s ‘Birthday Cake’ ft. Chris Brown: DJcity Exclusive

(Source: Richastic)

German DJ/producer Richastic has flipped Rihanna and Chris Brown‘s heavy-hitting 2011 track “Birthday Cake” into a booming, moombahton-style heater. The remix is available exclusively on DJcity.

Richastic’s house-oriented production flair is showcased here. The track’s trademark zipping synths are chopped to create stuttering energy that, when paired with Rihanna’s vocal, creates a pop-dembow combo that feels ready for peak-hour play.

Richastic shared his inspiration for the remix via email: “I had the idea to do a remix of “Birthday Cake” in June when it was my birthday and there was no cake. 🙁

Richastic’s Latin-flavored house chops are showcased in the production, while the remix is built largely around the flute sample that gave the original its distinct flair.

I stumbled across the classic when I sorted my Serato crates,” Richastic notes. The flute caught me, I always loved the song. From then on, I knew I had to remix it.”
