A lot of rappers brag about spending money, but Rich The Kid advocates saving in his aptly-titled anthem, “Save That.”
The track, which appears on Rich’s new album, The World Is Yours, is currently No. 10 on DJcity’s Hot Box chart, after hitting No. 2. It was produced by the in-demand D.A. Doman, who DJcity recently interviewed.
Tory Lanez and Rich The Kid have shared a colorful video for their recent collaboration, “Talk To Me.” The track is the first single from Lanez’s upcoming project, Love Me Now? He’s also gearing up for his forthcoming Spanish-language album, El Agua.
The vibrant visual finds the two rappers in different rooms made to look like a TV set. The video features a cameo from rapper 6ix9ine.
The producer of Rich The Kid‘s hit single “Plug Walk” has broken down the track on a new episode of Genius’ Deconstructed. The song, which was included in DJcity’s February Trends report, is currently No. 18 on Billboard’s Hot 100. It is Rich’s highest charting single to date.
In the video, rising Toronto producer TheLabCook discusses how he and Rich met, and breaks down the elements of the track.
“I had no idea it would be gold in a month or almost platinum … I didn’t see the potential in it,” Cook admits. “A lot of [a track’s success] has to do with how the producer uses [the beat].”
The video finds Rich and K.Dot riding around town in futuristic cars before hitting up a late-night food spot.
In September, Rich premiered “New Freezer” on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show. During their convo, Rich revealed that K.Dot asked to be on the track after he heard it at a studio session.
“Kendrick came in there,” Rich said. “He asked me to play some music for him, so I played two records that I had been recording off of my album. So I’m like, let me play him ‘For the Birds,’ another record I did. And then I played him ‘New Freezer.’ Right when he heard it, he was like, ‘Yo, like who else on this song?’ It’s just me. He’s like, ‘Yo I gotta get on this one! This shit’s dumb. This goes crazy.'”
