Rane Adds Beta Support for OS X El Capitan and Higher to the SL2 and SL4

OS X El Capitan

OS X El Capitan

Rane has introduced beta support for Apple OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 and higher to its SL2 and SL4 Serato interfaces. The company also announced that drivers for the MP25 and MP26 rack mixers will be available soon.

Support for El Capitan and higher was already available to the following devices: Sixty-One, Sixty-Two, Sixty-Four, Sixty-Eight, and SL3.

Interestingly, Rane’s announcement came on the same day that Apple unveiled its latest version of OS X: macOS Sierra. However, Sierra is not expected to be released until Fall, which gives Rane plenty of time to work on new drivers.

The annual NAMM Show kicked off today in California and one of the biggest announcements so far has been the MP2014, a new two-channel rotary mixer from Rane.

The MP2014 uses the same platform as the four-channel MP2015, which was one of the most talked about announcements at last year’s NAMM Show. Rane’s website states: “The MP2014 provides the same quality, aesthetics and high-resolution audio as the MP2015 in an elegant and portable design.”

“The MP2014 is built for DJs who love the classic rotary mixer experience yet refuse to compromise cutting edge features.”

In addition to its smaller size, the MP2014 also comes with a smaller price tag. The suggested retail price for the mixer is under $2,000, according to DJWORX.

Visit Rane’s website for more info and stay tuned for a NAMM recap from DJcityTV’s Mojaxx.

Review: Rane TTM57mkII Mixer

Rane changed the game in 2006 when it introduced the TTM57SL, the first-ever DJ mixer with a built-in USB sound card and integrated Serato software controls. The device was eventually discontinued in 2013, and a cult-like following ensued.

Recognizing the demand, Rane announced a successor earlier this year at the NAMM Show, the TTM57mkII. DJs have been eagerly awaiting its release ever since.

With the TTM57mkII now shipping to customers, DJcityTV’s Mojaxx has provided the very first review of the Serato DJ mixer. The video above includes an in-depth analysis of both its hardware and software capabilities.

Get more info about the TTM57mkII on Rane’s website and buy it on Amazon.

Skratch Bastid Gets Busy with Rane’s TTM57mkII

There are a couple videos of Skratch Bastid performing his “Nxwxrk” routine, but none of them feature Rane’s TTM57mkII mixer. Thankfully, Serato caught up with the Bastid in Los Angeles to showcase the new model and give the routine some proper treatment.

Watch the Canadian get busy in the video above and check out his newly created profile on Serato’s website. You can also download the instrumental used in the routine — RL Grime’s edit of Nadus’ “Nxwxrk” — on DJcity.
