An Inside Look at Native Instruments’ Los Angeles Office

Native Instruments

With its state-of-the-art Traktor DJ products, Maschine groove production systems and Komplete software instruments and effects bundles, Native Instruments has positioned itself as one of the most popular DJ and music production companies in the world.

Founded in Berlin back in 1996, Native Instruments operated out of Germany for six years until 2002 when it launched an office in Los Angeles. Although originally focused on sales, marketing and customer support for the Americas, the location has increasingly become an important part of the company’s global operations. As of today, hardware development for Traktor is handled there, along with iOS development for all of its products.

DJcity visited the office, which is located on Hollywood’s iconic Sunset Boulevard, to see what it’s like working there and what happens behind-the-scenes.

Native Instruments Compatibility with OS X Yosemite

Native Instruments Maschine

Native Instruments sent the following email today about Apple’s new OS X Yosemite operating system:

“Native Instruments has conducted compatibility tests with Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite which have shown current NI products to work without any specific issues under standard installations of this operating system.

However, products with a hardware dependency, such as MASCHINE, KOMPLETE KONTROL, TRAKTOR, GUITAR RIG, and Controller Editor will not launch when the AVID CoreAudioManager/Drivers are installed under 10.10 Yosemite. Native Instruments and Avid are working together to resolve this compatibility issue.

Native Instruments is currently conducting further systematic compatibility and performance tests with the release version of Yosemite, and will provide new information as it becomes available.”

MK Believes That Controllers Will Dominate in the Future

House icon Marc Kinchen, also known as MK, has been DJing and producing for more than two decades. In a new video from Native Instruments about the future of DJing, the Detroit-born artist predicts that controllers will eventually dominate over vinyl:

“In five to ten years, these 12-year-old DJs who are using Traktor are gonna be just killing the scene, by never touching vinyl, and using totally different controllers than are not now.”

Kinchen is responsible for the iconic remix of the Nightcrawlers’ “Push the Feeling On” released in 1995, which was sampled for Pitbull’s hit, “Hotel Room Service.” Last year, he scored a number one hit in the UK with his remix of Storm Queen’s “Look Right Through.”
