How Major Lazer’s ‘Too Original’ Was Mixed and Mastered


 
Grammy-nominated engineer Luca Pretolesi recently sat down with Future Music Magazine to discuss the process of mixing and mastering Major Lazer‘s track, “Too Original.” The Las Vegas engineer is the founder Studio DMI, which has mixed or mastered for the likes of Diplo, Lil Jon, Steve Aoki, Snoop Dogg, MAKJ, and Bruno Mars. Major Lazer Drops ‘Be Together’ Video Ft. Wild Belle


 
Major Lazer has released a video for their track “Be Together” featuring pop rock band, Wild Belle. The four-minute visuals go back and forth from flashbacks of a love story between Diplo and Belle’s lead singer, Natalie, to Diplo’s funeral.
 
“Be Together” is the opening track on Major Lazer’s third studio album, Peace Is the Mission. It peaked at number 29 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.

Major Lazer Enlists Fuse ODG for ‘Light It Up’ Remix

Just weeks after dropping a remix of their Ellie Goulding-assisted single “Powerful,” Major Lazer has returned with a rework of their dancehall-flavored “Light It Up.” The new and faster version, which BBC’s Annie Mac has declared the “hottest record in the world,” features a verse from British-Ghanaian rapper Fuse ODG and a horn-laden drop.

Major Lazer Drops VIP Edit of ‘Powerful’ Ft. D.R.A.M.

Major Lazer has enlisted “Cha Cha” rapper D.R.A.M. for a VIP edit of their ballad “Powerful.”
 
The Ellie Goulding and Tarrus Riley-assisted track is the second single off the group’s Peace Is the Mission album and is climbing the Billboard Hot 100 (currently at 84).
 
In addition to D.R.A.M.’s verse, the VIP edit also adds five BPM and a more percussive drop.

Watch R. City Cover Major Lazer’s ‘Lean On’ on BBC Radio 1


 
R. City, the duo known for their summer hit “Locked Away” featuring Adam Levine, have recently covered Major Lazer’s “Lean On” for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. The Virgin Islands brothers blended a few verses of their own tracks in the rendition, making it just as impressive as the original.
 
Major Lazer and DJ Snake’s “Lean On” featuring MØ, is currently number 11 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and number 14 on Shazam’s USA Top 100 Popular Songs chart.
