About a year ago, DJ Jazzy Jeff visited DJcity and put down an epic performance for our “MikiDz Show.” The legend delivered over an hour of classic and new music, along with an insightful interview with the show’s hosts, MikiWAR and Dainjazone. Thousands of fans from around the world watched the live stream, which has since received over 200,000 plays.

Today, Jeff premiered the third season of his “Vinyl Destination” series, and part of it documents his experience at DJcity. The episode also chronicles last year’s “Hip-Hop Legends” concert in New York City, which included performances by The Roots, Run DMC, Busta Rhymes, De La Soul, and others.

Like previous episodes, this one includes plenty of behind-the-scenes footage of Jeff and his crew, along with a few jokes and special cameos. The part about DJcity starts at around the 11-minute mark. Watch it below.

Shaggy’s ‘Boombastic’ Receives Trap Remix From Johnny Roxx and CRVFTSMEN

In 1995, Jamaican singer Shaggy crossed over into the US market with his chart-topping single, “Boombastic.” The reggae fusion track has remained a favorite throughout the years, and now it’s received a trap remix from Switzerland’s Johnny Roxx and Boston’s CRVFTSMEN. Their 75 BPM rework adds a brand new instrumental under Shaggy’s recognizable vocals, which are chopped quite nicely. Stream above and download below.

Chilly Gonzales Explains the Genius of Daft Punk’s ‘Aerodynamic’

We’re a big fan of Chilly Gonzales’ “Pop Music Masterclass,” a YouTube series that explains why hit songs are popular. The classically trained musician has dissected anthems such as Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” and recently, ILoveMakonnen’s “Tuesday.”

Taking a break from the series, Gonzales sat down with 1LIVE, the channel that hosts his videos, to discuss the genius of Daft Punk’s 2001 song “Aerodynamic.” He explained how the instrumental track makes use of an arpeggio and how the technique has been used throughout the centuries. Watch the three-and-a-half-minute clip above.

On Friday, Germany’s ESKEI83 put down a 26-minute mix for Charlie Sloth’s BBC Radio 1Xtra show. The Red Bull Thre3style World Champion’s set featured a variety of bass-heavy tracks, including some of his own productions. Of course, ESKEI couldn’t drop a mix without flexing his world-class turntablism skills, so there’s plenty of cutting sprinkled throughout, too.
