Watch Timmy Trumpet and Krunk!’s ‘Al Pacino’ Video

Al Pacino Video

Australian DJ/producers Timmy Trumpet and Krunk! have dropped a video for their Latin-influenced Melbourne bounce single, “Al Pacino.” The seizure-inducing visual shows the pair hanging out and performing in Miami.

“Al Pacino” was included in June’s edition of DJcity’s Trends charts and this week’s Spotify playlist picks.

Timmy discussed the creative process behind the track in Spinnin’ Records’ press release:

“It was like one big party in the Studio finishing this track. We just jammed it out, had a lot of fun and saw where things took us and the result was AL PACINO!”

DJs Who Played During Pulse Nightclub Attack Tell Their Stories

Two DJs who performed during the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting recently spoke with VICE about the attack, which happened a year ago on Monday.

Simon “DJSimon2001” Roman and Kraig “DJ Sir Flawless” Matthews, along with two other survivors, provided detailed accounts of the attack and how it still affects them.

“I played the last song before they died,” Roman recounted. “As soon as I heard the gunshots, I lowered the volume and then I fell to the ground.”

Matthews, who was in the crowd during the shooting, discussed how his mentality as a DJ has changed since the ordeal.

“When I do stuff in big crowds or in clubs and stuff like that, of course, what comes to mind is exits and safety. That’s not something I used to think about before,” Matthews said. “I still go and have a good time even though that happened at a club, at a sanctuary. You’re gonna die sometime in your life, but you still can’t live [walking] on eggshells.”

Is the Technics SL-1200GR Suitable for DJs?

SL-1200GR

Back in January, Technics unveiled a new model in their famed SL-1200 turntable series, the SL-1200GR. The device is a more affordable version of the SL-1200G, which was assumed to be aimed at audiophiles instead of DJs. (Technics didn’t mention DJs in any of their product and marketing material for the G.)

However, the company clarified their commitment to DJs when they announced the GR.

“The SL-1200GR and SL-1210GR combine the best of both worlds,” Michiko Ogawa, director of Technics at Panasonic, said in a press release. “Our goal was to extend our top range for audio enthusiasts as well as professional DJs.”

Technics’ statement was reassuring, but does the GR pass the test? Mojaxx finds out on this week’s Tips and Tricks.

Special thanks to Westend DJ.
