Sean Paul Teams With Major Lazer for New Single and Video, ‘Tip Pon It’

Sean Paul has teamed with Major Lazer for a moombahton-influenced single called “Tip Pon It.” The track follows Paul’s “Mad Love” collab with David Guetta and Becky G.

The dancehall legend previously collaborated with Major Lazer on 2014’s “Come On To Me,” 2015’s “One Wine,” and most recently on the trio’s “Buscando Huellas” featuring J Balvin.

“Tip Pon It” has also received an accompanying video. Directed by French director Alexandre Courtès, the visual features a supersized Sean Paul dancing on the set of the music video.

DJ Brace Scratches in Thailand With Fretless Fader

Three-time DMC champion DJ Brace is known for pushing the boundaries of turntablism. Whether scratching with the Fretless Fader or collaborating with people from different cultures, Brace is dedicated to moving the art forward.

For his latest video, Brace travels to Bangkok, Thailand. There, he makes a beat out of sounds that he samples from around the city and then scratches over it with the Fretless Fader.

Liam Payne and J Balvin Team for New Single, ‘Familiar’

Former One Direction member Liam Payne has teamed with Latin superstar J Balvin for a bilingual single called “Familiar.” The track follows Payne’s UK hit “For You” with Rita Ora, and Balvin’s Latin crossover “X” with Nicky Jam.

“Familiar” was produced by an up-and-comer by the name of Mike Sabath. He has previously worked on songs for Chris Brown and Wale.

Dutch DJ/producer duo Afro Bros joined SpydaT.E.K on Monday night for a guest mix on his SiriusXM show, Globalization Sessions. SpydaT.E.K, a Mad Decent artist and remixer for DJcity’s Puro Pari series, has made their set available due to popular demand.

Signed to Spinnin’ Records, Afro Bros made waves in March for co-producing Nicky Jam and J Balvin’s Latin smash, “X.” In 2017, they co-produced Major Lazer‘s international single “Sua Cara” featuring Anitta and Pabllo Vittar.

The Dutchmen put down an hour-long set consisting of moombahton, reggaeton, Afro bass, and house. Their mix includes several of their original tracks, including their new single “So Much Love” featuring Charly Black and Stevie Appleton. It also includes an exclusive preview of an unreleased track titled “Diki Te Triki.”

Globalization Sessions airs Monday nights at 8 pm PST on SiriusXM’s Globalization channel.

Idris Elba to Star as DJ in Netflix Comedy Series

Actor and part-time DJ Idris Elba is set to star in a new Netflix comedy series titled Turn Up Charlie. The UK native will play a struggling DJ who puts himself in an undesirable predicament for a chance at stardom.

Before hitting the big screen, Elba began his career as a DJ in East London under the moniker Big Dris. He has played major festivals such as Creamfields and Glastonbury and has held a residency at the world-renowned Pacha Ibiza.

In addition to DJing, Elba is also a producer, having released several albums and remixes. His notable projects include co-producing and performing on the intro to JAY-Z‘s 2007 album, American Gangster, and his new house remix of Natalie Wood and N:Fostell’s “Circles.”

Elba is best known for his roles on BBC One’s drama Luther and HBO’s The Wire. He also starred as Nelson Mandela in the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

Turn Up Charlie, which was co-created by Elba and producer Gary Reich, will begin production in May. A premiere date has not been determined.

Watch Wide Awake’s Trap-Influenced Mini Mix for Serato

Wide Awake, a DJ/producer duo comprised of DJcity UK’s CJ Beatz and Jordan Crisp, has put down a trap-influenced mini mix for Serato’s In the Mix series. Their set, which was filmed at Serato’s London studio, includes their single “Bang Your Head” featuring UK rapper Boya Dee.
