Beatmatching is one of the first and most fundamental skills a DJ can learn. And as a result of modern music production software, most current music has a consistent tempo throughout the track.
However, many older songs were recorded with live musicians, and thus have subtle changes in BPM. Mixing those songs adds an extra level of difficulty, requiring a keen ear and a lot of adjustments.

Yo Yolie Talks Breaking Into Radio and Las Vegas Scene, Gives Advice to Female DJs
Yo Yolie is a club and radio DJ from the Bay Area who’s now based in Las Vegas. She’s a mixer on San Francisco’s WiLD 94.9 and SiriusXM’s Globalization channel, and rocks crowds from the Bay to Vegas on a regular basis.

Can Mojaxx Switch From Mac to Windows?
Mojaxx‘s MacBook Pro is old and needs replacing, but the new models are very expensive. He doesn’t want to spend that much money on a laptop that will only be used for DJing.
So, Mo has been researching Windows devices instead, which he admits is a scary idea. “I’ve been a Mac user for over a decade,” Mo says. “I haven’t had a Windows machine since the Windows XP days. So it really is a bit terrifying for me to make that switch.”
To kick off his journey, Mo takes a look at the SLIM 14 Audio Edition laptop from German manufacturer SCHENKER. Watch above on this week’s episode of Tips and Tricks.
