Jay Z dropped his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, 20 years ago today. The project, which contains the singles “Dead Presidents,” “Ain’t No Nigga,” and “Can’t Knock the Hustle,” is considered one of the greatest rap albums of all time. To celebrate the anniversary, Power 106’s Vin Rican has returned with a new episode of WaxOnly, a series that showcases the samples behind classic hip-hop songs.

Power 106’s Vin Rican has returned with a new installment of Wax Only, this time looking at Kanye West‘s Graduation album for the rapper’s 39th birthday. In the episode, Vinny showcases nine songs from the album and some of the samples behind them. Watch the video above, which includes classics like “Stronger” and “Good Life.”

To celebrate the 23rd anniversary of Dr. Dre’s debut solo album The Chronic, Power 106’s Vin Rican has returned with another episode of #WaxOnly. The series looks at the samples used in some of hip-hop’s most influential songs.
 
Released in 1992, The Chronic contained three classic singles: “Nuthin’ but a “G” Thang,” “F#ck wit Dre Day,” and “Let Me Ride,” all of which featured Snoop Dogg.

Power 106’s Vin Rican returns with part two of his Dia de los Muertos series, which pays tribute to hip-hop’s late greats. Once again, Vinny showcases a variety of soul, jazz, and reggae classics side by side with the hip-hop tracks that sampled them.

In celebration of Dia De Los Muertos, Power 106’s Vin Rican has made a video that pays tribute to hip-hop’s late greats and the songs they sampled.
 
Like his previous videos, Vinny’s latest showcases soul and jazz classics side by side with the hip-hop tracks that sampled them. Included in this episode are favorites by The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, N.W.A., Big L, Big Pun, and J Dilla.

To celebrate Nas’ 42nd birthday, Power 106 has made a video about the samples used in some of the rapper’s most classic joints. The Los Angeles radio station’s Production Director Vin Rican goes through eight samples along with the seven Nas songs that sampled them.
 
Watch the video above, which includes DJ favorites “N.Y. State of Mind,” the Lauryn Hill-assisted “If I Ruled the World,” “Halftime,” and “Made You Look.”
