The Making of Travis Scott’s ‘Antidote’

Eestbound

Rising Canadian producer Eestbound recently sat down with Genius to discuss producing Travis Scott’s 2015 hit, “Antidote.” The song, which peaked at No. 16 on Billboard’s Hot 100, was certified triple platinum in April 2017.

Eestbound recounted how he and co-producer, WondaGurl, stumbled upon on Lee Fields & The Expressions’ “All I Need,” which they used as the song’s main sample. He also discussed how his simplistic approach to producing the song helped fuel its creative process.

DJ Mustard recently spoke with Hip-Hop Wired about how he produced his latest solo single, “Whole Lotta Lovin’.” The track, which features Travis Scott, is Mustard’s latest foray into the dance world and was DJcity’s sixth most downloaded song in January.

In the video (see below), Mustard explains how he produced the verses, buildups and drops for “Whole Lotta Lovin'” using FL Studio and an MPC. He even reveals that the song took “three to six months” to finish. “It was probably my longest time ever working on one song just because it wasn’t like what I always do and it was me just trying something new.”

The Los Angeles native also says that Rihanna’s “Needed Me,” which he produced with Frank Dukes and Twice as Nice, was a big accomplish for him. “I did about a 100 records trying to get on the [Anti] album,” he says with a laugh.
