GENRE BNDR

Watch This Japanese DJ Scratch Over a Classical Song

GENRE BNDR has recruited Japan’s DJ SkYATCH, a.k.a CHAPS, for their latest video. We don’t know much about him, but his creative use of turntablism and classical music is evident.

For those who are curious, the song that he used in this routine is Leroy Anderson’s 1950 piece, “The Typewriter.”

GENRE BNDR has produced some of the most popular turntablist videos on DJcity in 2015. Now, for one of their last pieces of the year, the series returns with a routine from Japan’s Toyoda Style, the winner of the 2014 and 2015 New Trick DJ Battle. Toyoda’s brief yet impressive routine is based on the Wu-Tang Clan’s timeless classic, “C.R.E.A.M.”

As of today, Japanese turntablist duo Kireek is the only team to have won five DMC World Championships in a row. Given this and their achievements as individuals, it only makes sense that Japan’s GENRE BNDR would feature them in their latest video. Watch Kireek’s impressive new routine above, which is based on Dr. Dre’s 1999 classic, “Still D.R.E.”

Kireek is composed of DJ Hi-C and DJ Yasa.
