Rising DJ/producer El Dusty has served up a half-hour of moombahton and nu-cumbia for the DJcity Podcast.

Dusty is considered as the pioneer of nu-cumbia, a style which blends electronic music and cumbia. His unique sound earned him a Latin Grammy nomination in 2016 for his single “Cumbia Anthem” featuring Happy Colors.

The Corpus Christi, Texas native broke onto the scene in 2012 after his song, “K Le Pasa,” landed him a deal with Universal Music. A few years later, Dusty was included in Rolling Stone’s “10 New Artists You Need to Know” in 2015 and Billboard’s “5 New Latin Acts to Watch” in 2016.

Dusty has performed at various festivals around the world, including EDC Las Vegas, EDC Mexico, South by Southwest, and the Glastonbury Festival in the UK.

Watch El Dusty’s ‘Cumbia Anthem’ Video


 
Rising DJ/producer El Dusty has released visuals for his club banger “Cumbia Anthem” featuring Happy Colors. The colorful video showcases the streets and culture of Dusty’s hometown, Corpus Christi, Texas.
 
“Cumbia Anthem” is an EDM-influenced cumbia song that’s filled with trap snares, heavy 808s, and bass. It samples Andrés Landero’s classic “Bailando Cumbia” and is Dusty’s first collaboration with Dominican twerk producer Happy Colors.
