Duck Sauce Drops New Single and Video, ‘Mesmerize’

Duck Sauce, the duo of A-Trak and Armand Van Helden, has delivered a one-of-a-kind new single and video. “Mesmerize” is another one of the duo’s signature funky, disco-influenced house tracks built around a repeating vocal sample.

The animated visual, which is slightly NSFW, is a mind-altering trip that starts off as a typical Duck Sauce club gig. Over the course of the video, the duo realizes that they may be in a simulation. Their journey then takes a turn for the metaphysical in ways that need to be seen to be understood.

Duck Sauce Returns With New Single ‘Smiley Face’

DJ duo Duck SauceA-Trak and Armand van Helden — have returned for the first time in six years with “Smiley Face,” their new single. Duck Sauce are confirmed for a set at Coachella this April, which will be their return to the festival after last playing in 2014. Though no further dates have been announced, this could be a sign of more to come.

Not unlike Duck Sauce’s “Barbra Streisand” and “Big Bad Wolf” sampling Boney M’s disco hits “Gotta Go Home” and “Rasputin,” respectively, “Smiley Face” continues to pay homage to modern house’s classic New York City club roots. The early gospel house vibes of Two Tons of Fun’s (Martha Wash and Izora Rhodes) “Make Someone Feel Happy Today” are present here, and just like Duck Sauce’s previous hits, this one feels like both a club and festival set favorite for 2020.

Related, Martha Wash is quite important to house and pop music history. Check this link out here to learn why.
