Drake Talks Ghostwriting Rumors and Cultural Appropriation in Rap Radar Interview
Drake recently sat down with Rap Radar‘s Elliott Wilson and Brian “B-Dot” Miller in his Toronto home for an extensive interview. Over the course of two-and-a-half hours, the artist talked about ghostwriting rumors, beef with other artists, accusations of cultural appropriation, his current label situation, and more.
On the difference between ghostwriting and collaborating with other artists:
“Look, if it makes a great song…but it’s you and this other person that’s cooking it up, you’re not doing anything wrong.”
On borrowing other cultures’ musical styles in his songs:
“That’s not appropriating… I make a point to give opportunity to people that I respect. Wizkid was on [“One Dance”] with me, and I had blessings from the real dons in that space.”
