R. City, the duo known for their summer hit “Locked Away” featuring Adam Levine, have recently covered Major Lazer’s “Lean On” for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. The Virgin Islands brothers blended a few verses of their own tracks in the rendition, making it just as impressive as the original.
 
Major Lazer and DJ Snake’s “Lean On” featuring MØ, is currently number 11 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and number 14 on Shazam’s USA Top 100 Popular Songs chart.

Disclosure and Sam Smith recently covered Drake’s “Hotline Bling” in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. The rendition was quite a bit different from the original but just as dope. Watch above and grab Drizzy’s version and Disclosure and Sam Smith’s single “Omen” on DJcity.
 
Drake’s “Hotline Bling” was the 24th most downloaded track on DJcity in August. It samples Timmy Thomas’ 1972 soul classic, “Why Can’t We Live Together.”

BBC Radio 1 celebrated 20 years of throwing parties in Ibiza last weekend. The star-studded event, which was attended by DJcity’s DJ Phenom, featured sets from superstars Calvin Harris and Disclosure and Radio 1 personalities Pete Tong, Annie Mac, and MistaJam.
 
Thankfully, we got our hands on a live recording of MistaJam’s performance at Cafe Mambo, which featured an hour of new and classic house. It was one of the best sets that Phenom saw during the weekend and we’re excited to share it with you.

BBC Radio 1 Host Zane Lowe Leaving to Join Apple

BBC Radio 1 host and DJ Zane Lowe is leaving in March to join Apple in the US.
 
He joined the station in 2001 and has interviewed some of the biggest names in the music industry including Kanye West, Eminem, Jay Z, and Rick Rubin.
 
Although Lowe’s role has yet to be revealed, his move comes as Apple prepares to relaunch the Beats Music streaming service that it acquired last year.
 
Annie Mac will take over his spot soon after he leaves.
 
“I want to thank everyone at Radio 1 for their support and friendship,” he said to his listeners. “The station has allowed me to share incredible music with the country’s best music fans.”

Lorde Covers Jeremih’s ‘Don’t Tell ‘Em’


 
Lorde recently stopped by the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform a cover of Jeremih’s “Don’t Tell ‘Em.” The New Zealand songstress sang the DJ Mustard-produced hit alongside a drummer and keyboardist, taking it into a completely new direction.
 
Released on DJcity in May, “Don’t Tell ‘Em” continues to receive extensive radio and club play, and is currently the 13th most-Shazamed song in the world.
