In the latest video from Dubspot, world champion turntablist DJ Shiftee demonstrates how to spice up your live sets by combining cue points with scratches. While his tutorial makes use of Native Instruments’ Traktor software and Maschine production system, Shiftee’s methods are versatile enough to apply to any software and cue point controller.
“When you have a bag of tricks in your arsenal, it gives you more options in any kind of DJ performance situation.”
After the demonstration, Shiftee goes on to offer timeless advice to aspiring DJs and producers:
“The way you get good at anything is through really hard work . . . If you can exist in that space where you feel awful and it sounds horrible, then it means you’re getting better.”
