The Samples Behind Ice Cube’s ‘Death Certificate’ Album

Ice Cube

Los Angeles radio station Power 106 is back with a new episode of Wax Only, this time for the 25th anniversary of Ice Cube‘s 1991 album, Death Certificate.

The series was created by Power’s Production Director Vin Rican to showcase classic hip-hop albums and the samples behind them.

Death Certificate, which was Cube’s second studio album, featured two singles: “Steady Mobbin'” and “True to the Game.” Although it went on to sell over five million copies worldwide, the album was controversial due to its racially and politically charged content.

Watch Vinny break down the album’s samples above.
