Actor and part-time DJ Idris Elba is set to star in a new Netflix comedy series titled Turn Up Charlie. The UK native will play a struggling DJ who puts himself in an undesirable predicament for a chance at stardom.

Before hitting the big screen, Elba began his career as a DJ in East London under the moniker Big Dris. He has played major festivals such as Creamfields and Glastonbury and has held a residency at the world-renowned Pacha Ibiza.

In addition to DJing, Elba is also a producer, having released several albums and remixes. His notable projects include co-producing and performing on the intro to JAY-Z‘s 2007 album, American Gangster, and his new house remix of Natalie Wood and N:Fostell’s “Circles.”

Elba is best known for his roles on BBC One’s drama Luther and HBO’s The Wire. He also starred as Nelson Mandela in the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

Turn Up Charlie, which was co-created by Elba and producer Gary Reich, will begin production in May. A premiere date has not been determined.

Review: Firmware Update for Denon DJ’s MCX8000 Controller

Denon DJ

In 2017, Denon DJ released its highly anticipated Prime series of equipment. Included in the line was Engine Prime, music analysis and management software for the SC5000 player. Unfortunately, Engine Prime wasn’t compatible with Denon’s popular MCX8000 controller, which came out a year before.

However, last month, Denon announced an update to the MCX8000’s firmware that brings Engine Prime to the device. It’s only in beta, but Mojaxx didn’t wait to get his hands on it.

Watch Logic and Marshmello’s ‘Everyday’ Video

Logic

Logic and Marshmello have dropped a visual for their catchy anthem, “Everyday.”

In the video, Logic stars as an unappreciated employee who works hard, but never seems to get ahead. Eventually, he convinces some of his co-workers to quit. They storm out of the office, taking an uncooperative fax machine with them, only to bash it to pieces with baseball bats. The scene is a parody of the 1999 cult classic film, Office Space.

“Everyday” was DJcity’s 17th most downloaded track of March. It’s currently No. 76 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, having peaked at 29.
