Logic and Marshmello have dropped a visual for their catchy anthem, “Everyday.”

In the video, Logic stars as an unappreciated employee who works hard, but never seems to get ahead. Eventually, he convinces some of his co-workers to quit. They storm out of the office, taking an uncooperative fax machine with them, only to bash it to pieces with baseball bats. The scene is a parody of the 1999 cult classic film, Office Space.

“Everyday” was DJcity’s 17th most downloaded track of March. It’s currently No. 76 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, having peaked at 29.

  • How Marshmello Built One of the Most Successful Brands in Dance Music

Marshmello has become one of the most successful brands in dance music, and in a new feature story in Billboard, the DJ/producer and his manager discuss how they built it.

Of course, Marshmello wouldn’t be famous without his music. But the business and brand strategies that he and his manager Moe Shalizi used are a key part of the equation.

    Why Marshmello wears a mask:

Shalizi: “It doesn’t matter who’s under this helmet. The ethos of the brand is creating something that doesn’t symbolize one person as an icon, but a movement of people.”

    How the mask creates curiosity:

Marshmello: “It’s not every day you see something like Marshmello … You’re like, ‘Wait, what does [he] even do?’ You search and find the music.”

How he’s instantly recognizable, unlike many DJ/producers:

Shalizi: “It’s like Coca-Cola … When you see red and white, what do you think? We created an unforgettable character; a logo, essentially.”

How wearing a mask helps him avoid the spotlight:

Marshmello: “Everybody says, ‘Man, you have it made.’ … [Fame] is such a volatile situation, and it’ll usually change people for the worse. I’m happy not to be in that.”

Why he turned down offers from major labels:

Shalizi: “[The offers] weren’t genuine … It was like, ‘We don’t know if you’re real, but we’re willing to throw sh#t at the wall and see if it sticks.’”
    Marshmello: “We bet on ourselves.”

Marshmello goes to college in the video for his future bass track, “Blocks.” The visual finds the DJ/producer choosing his musical passion over popularity as he stands up against bullying. Marshmello leaves his cruel fraternity behind and joins the school’s music club, where he takes over as the conductor.

“Blocks” appears on Marshmello’s 2016 debut album, Joytime. His latest single “Wolves,” which is a collaboration with Selena Gomez, currently sits at No. 35 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

DJcity has added over a dozen remixes of Calvin Harris’ “Outside” since the single dropped, but Marshmello’s is only the second trap version in our catalog. Besides a completely new drum pattern, his 71 BPM remix speeds and pitches up Ellie Goulding’s vocals. “Outside” is also currently number two on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, so Marshmello’s rework is a nice alternative for those who’ve overplayed the original.
