A-Trak Demonstrates Creative Way to Use Serato DJ Pro’s Slip Mode Feature

A-Trak

A-Trak is known for pushing the DJ culture forward by creating new ideas to use in his routines then sharing how he comes up with them. As he in November when he broke down how he constructed his “rockstarroutine.

Today, the Fool’s Gold Chief has explained how he came up with a creative way to use Serato DJ Pro’s Slip Mode feature.

Slip Mode is a tool that enables DJs to manipulate a track without losing its playback position.

A-Trak uses the feature to integrate scratching into his mix while maintaining a continuous groove. He combines it with another idea he had in which he uses loops in his set instead of full tracks and what he achieves is a new way to perform a scratch routine.

In the video, A-Trak discusses his thought process behind the idea. He then demonstrates the technique using Basement Jaxx‘s 1999 interlude, “Jazzalude.”

Watch G-Eazy’s ‘1942’ Video Feat. Yo Gotti and YBN Nahmir

G-Eazy

G-Eazy has shared the video for his Yo Gotti and YBN Nahmir-assisted single, “1942.” Produced by Hitmaka, the track was one of DJcity’s most-downloaded songs of April.

The visual shows G-Eazy, Gotti, and Nahmir having fun with a crew of backup dancers inside a dark warehouse. It also features a group of guys playing basketball, which is fitting since the track is the second single from the forthcoming Uncle Drew movie soundtrack.

“1942” serves as a follow up to A$AP Rocky, Gucci Mane, and 21 Savage‘s “Cocky” featuring London On Da Track.

YouTube Adds Songwriter, Label, and Publisher Credits on Videos

YouTube

YouTube

YouTube has added more information to the song credits on official and fan-uploaded videos that contain music.

Right now, if you click “show more” in a video’s description, you might see info about the songs in the clip. It could include the performer(s), songwriter(s) and any record label(s) and publisher(s) involved, as well as links to official artist channels and music videos.

According to Billboard, “[YouTube] said the new feature is driven by its Content ID system, which finds and monetizes user-uploaded videos for rights owners, and is aided by existing partnerships with labels, publishers and rights societies.”

Prominent music industry figures have praised the move.

“Songwriters are essential to the success of the music industry, but too often their critical role gets overlooked,” Sony/ATV Music chairman and CEO Martin Bandier said in a statement. “It is why I have long called for all online music services to properly acknowledge their contribution by displaying writer credits. This move by YouTube is an important step forward to deliver that goal and one which Sony/ATV welcomes.”

Elton John added that songwriters are the “heart and the soul of songs, so it’s wonderful seeing them get the credit they deserve. There is so much more we can do to establish a better situation for music creators and this is great step forward.”

The credits arrive as YouTube prepares to introduce its new subscription streaming service.
