Afrobeats and Dance added as Main Genres on DJcity

At DJcity, we are always working to make sure that the way our record pool functions reflects the needs of our users. Therefore in our latest update, we switched up the main music categories on our website.

Firstly, instead of having house as a main music category, we now have dance, which incorporates genres like house, trap, dubstep, and drum & bass. If you spin electronic music that is the category for you.

In a reflection of what our DJ community is seeking in 2022, we have removed reggae as a main music category and put afrobeats in its place. If you are a fan of reggae, dancehall, or house, don’t worry, we still have just as much music in those genres as we always had. They can be accessed via the genres tab or by clicking on a music tag anywhere on the site.

If you are an existing user, we hope you find these changes useful, and if you aren’t, head over to djcity.com now to see how you could join.

DJWS and DJ Drew Drop ‘Just The Way You Are’ on DJcity Records

Grammy Award-winning producer DJ White Shadow teams up with LA’s DJ Drew for a disco-pop reboot of Milky‘s 2002 cult classic, “Just The Way You Are.” The single, which arrives just in time for pool party season, retains the infectious charm of the original’s melodies and trades in acoustic guitars for analog synths. The DJcity Records release is a masterclass in dance-pop, delicately walking the line between the familiar and the future.

DJ White Shadow and DJ Drew’s take on “Just The Way You Are” is big for the main stage, groovy for the club, and just sweet enough for the radio. Download the track on DJcity and Beatsource and stream it on all major platforms now.

Serato Celebrates 20th Anniversary With Special Adidas Sneakers

Renowned DJ software company Serato is celebrating its 20th anniversary by creating a special Adidas Forum colorway co-designed by DJ Clark Kent and Serato’s OP Miller.

“Serato’s 20-year life has been a blur of club bangers, chill radio waves, and unbound creative genius from everyone who took to the decks with us. And all that’s just the beginning. This collab is a chance to thank the people who have made this life so far the sickest blessing any community could ask for” said Scotty Hoogerbrug, Chief Marketing Officer for Serato.

“DJs run the party… Let the DJ feel good about their look. Inspire them to play as well as they look.” states DJ Clark Kent.

These exclusive sneakers feature premium black leather that is designed to handle the dirt and stains of club life. They also showcase Serato’s 20-year progression by featuring the original Scratch Live logo and its current DJ Pro logo on the ankle collars, and vinyl pressing details on the white midsole and outsole. There’s an exclusive Serato x Adidas control vinyl that comes with the sneaker release as well.

This Serato x Adidas Forum collaboration is a one-off, extremely limited run that will remain exclusive to the friends and family of the company and won’t be released to the public for now.
