Red Bull has finally uploaded J. Espinosa’s winning set from the 2015 Thre3style U.S. Finals, which went down last weekend in Phoenix, Arizona. Although Thre3style routines are almost always high-energy, Espinosa’s was more intense than most of the ones we’ve heard this year. His selection included a good balance of both forward-thinking and classic material, with a focus on hip-hop and bass music. Unfortunately, the quality of the recording is very poor, but it’s still worth a listen, as Espinosa’s skills are as impressive as ever. We look forward to hearing what he does at the world finals in Tokyo.

DJ Jazzy Jeff & Skratch Bastid Rehearsing at the Red Bull Thre3style US Finals

Last week, Serato blessed fans with a beautifully shot video of DJ Jazzy Jeff performing his classic “Peter Piper” routine. They also shared an interview in which Jeff praised his fellow DJs ESKEI83 and Skratch Bastid for their efforts in moving the art forward.

Jeff matched his words with action last night, though, by joining Skratch for a performance at the Red Bull Thre3style US Finals in Arizona. A video of their set isn’t available, but thankfully Jeff hooked us up with an exclusive video of them rehearsing at Club Red.

If you’re in or near Phoenix tonight, check out the final round of the Thre3style US Finals at The Pressroom. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Watch MaddJazz’s 2015 Thre3style Chicago Routine

Some of our readers might remember MaddJazz from the Chicago edition of DJcityTV’s “Cutting Room” series. The Windy City’s epic throw down is considered by many as the best of the series, and MaddJazz’s scratching abilities are one of the reasons why. In early February, he put his skills to the test once again during the 2015 Red Bull Thre3style Qualifier in Chicago. MaddJazz went up against some of his city’s best party rockers and turntablists, including his “Cutting Room” partner, Boi Jeanius, who took the crown. Although MaddJazz came in at second place, his Thre3style set was one of the most energetic we’ve heard this year, and today he shared it exclusively on DJcityTV.

On February 19, DJ Obscene defeated Nikko Calor, Konflikt, IV, Casper and Nova at the Red Bull Thre3style South Regionals in Tampa, Florida.

We’ve heard a lot of sets from this year’s regionals and Obscene’s is one of the most original in terms of selection and execution. His mix included a wide range of music, from hip-hop to rock and beyond.

The Miami native will go on to compete at the national final in Phoenix, Arizona on April 2-4.
