‘R.O.A.D. Podcast’: Inspiration vs Biting
On this week’s episode of the R.O.A.D. Podcast, the crew spoke to Boogie Blind of the X-Ecutioners regarding the accusations made against Ted Smooth for stealing blends and remixes from other producers like Scram Jones, DJ Mell Starr, as well as Boogie Blind himself.
The Harlem native broke down the history of the “Love On Top X Keezo Kane Blend,” which was originally performed live by DJ Mell Starr at numerous parties and then released as a remix by Ted Smooth.

On the latest installment of the R.O.A.D. Podcast, the crew was joined by guest co-host DJ Eddie Mcdonald to interview New York’s very own DJ Mell Starr. In the episode, the New York icon discussed Harlem’s exclusive DJ scene and culture.
Mell Starr also explained why uptown DJs like DJ Boogie Blind choose not to share Harlem club anthems with DJs outside of the community.

Watch DJ Mell Starr’s Routine for ‘5 Minutes of Funk’
DJ Mell Starr, a mixer on Las Vegas’ Power 88, has delivered a well-executed routine for Funkmaster Flex’s 5 Minutes of Funk segment on Hot 97. The Harlem-based turntablist and producer performed a clean, 10-minute set of classic hip-hop and breakbeats.
Starr, who also goes by “The Most Dangerous” and “No Head Phones in Harlem,” was a contestant on season two of the DJ reality show, Master of the Mix.
