Watch: James Hype Breaks Down His Craig David-Assisted Single ‘No Drama’
In September, U.K. DJ/producer James Hype connected with R&B legend Craig David for a feel-good house single, “No Drama.” The track, which reached No. 8 on DJcity UK’s monthly top 20 chart, has gone on to amass 15 million streams. It has also been named a “Future Dance Anthem” by BBC Radio 1’s MistaJam.
We recently stopped by James’ studio in London to see how he made the track. The Liverpool native explained how the song came together and broke down each layer in Ableton Live. He also discussed his creative process and the role that DJcity has played in his career.

Now Available: Craig David’s Cover of Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’
Craig David returned to BBC 1Xtra’s Live Lounge last week to perform his new single “When the Bassline Drops” with Big Narstie. The legendary R&B singer also sang a cover of Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself,” which went viral just like his version of “Where Are Ü Now” in September. Thankfully, the live recording of David’s rendition of “Love Yourself” is now available exclusively on DJcity.

Craig David and Big Narstie Release New Song ‘When the Bassline Drops’
A week after premiering it on MistaJam’s BBC 1Xtra show, Craig David and English Grime artist Big Narstie have released their collab “When the Bassline Drops.” The 132 BPM song features David’s soulful vocals and a verse from Narstie over a UK garage instrumental. It’s unclear whether the track will appear on David’s forthcoming album, Following My Intuition, which he announced last week.

Craig David Reveals Ambitious Plans for New Album
Comebacks are rare for veteran rap and R&B artists, but England’s Craig David is set to beat the odds. Following his viral performance on BBC 1Xtra in September, the R&B singer recently revealed to Complex UK that a new album is in the works.
According to David, Following My Intuition will feature collaborations with forward-thinking artists like Diplo, Kaytranada, GoldLink, and Chase & Status. The project will be released on MistaJam’s Speakerbox label, which David and his own label JEM Artists recently signed with.
Considering the attention that David’s BBC performance received and the artists he’s working with, the longtime singer has a good chance of making the comeback he deserves.
Here’s a taste of what’s to come:
