Pioneer DJ Reportedly in Final Stage of Sale

Pioneer DJ

UPDATE: Reuters previously reported that Pioneer was close to selling its DJ equipment business but DJcity’s Japanese Director has obtained a press release that disproves the report.

Japanese electronics maker Pioneer is reportedly in the process of selling its DJ equipment business. The company offers a wide range of products, including their famed CDJ line, along with mixers, headphones, speakers, and most recently their PLX-1000 turntable.

According to sources that spoke with Reuters, Pioneer DJ could sell for about 60 billion yen ($570 million). They also said that global private equity firms are among the final bidders (no specific names were mentioned).

Despite the profitability of its DJ equipment business in the latest financial year, Pioneer is selling off non-core assets to focus on automotive electronics.

Stay tuned for updates on this story.
