Watch Tory Lanez’s ‘Skrt Skrt’ Video

Two weeks before dropping his sophomore album, Memories Don’t Die, Tory Lanez has shared a video for his dancehall-influenced single, “Skrt Skrt.” The track was released in September and became DJcity’s twelfth most downloaded song of October.

The summer-themed visual finds Lanez partying it up at a mansion alongside bikini-clad models. Comedian and rapper Fatboy SSE also makes an appearance.

Do DJs Need to Be Producers These Days?

Share the Knowledge

Times have changed for DJs, and nowadays, skills alone might not be enough to help you break through. Some of the biggest clubs and festivals in the world will only book DJs who produce music. And while some DJs can get by without it, those who are struggling to make a name for themselves might ask themselves: do I need to be a producer to make it as a DJ?

On this episode of DJcityTV’s Share the Knowledge, DJ TLM answers the question and offers some tips on how to get started as a producer.

Wyclef Jean on Santana’s ‘Maria Maria’ and DJ Khaled’s ‘Wild Thoughts’

Wyclef Jean

In 1999, legendary music executive Clive Davis recruited Wyclef Jean to collaborate with Santana. The result was “Maria Maria,” a Westside Story-inspired anthem featuring R&B duo, The Product G&B. The track spent 10 weeks atop Billboard’s Hot 100 and won a Grammy.

18 years later, “Maria Maria” returned to the spotlight when DJ Khaled sampled and interpolated it for the Rihanna and Bryson Tiller-assisted “Wild Thoughts.” It, like “Maria Maria,” was also a top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hit.

On Mass Appeal’s new Off The Record episode, Wyclef recalls the making of both “Maria Maria” and “Wild Thoughts.” “At the end of the day, Khaled did the same thing I did with The Fugees,” Wyclef says.
