Just Blaze Talks All Things DJing [Video]
Legendary DJ/producer Just Blaze is famous for producing hits for JAY Z and other rappers but has evolved throughout the years and is stronger than ever. In the latest episode of Serato’s Icon Artist Series, Blaze reflects on his unusual beginnings as a DJ and shares insights that all DJs can learn from.
“I was the weird dude that would show up to the high school or college rave, playing rave records but scratching them like they were hip-hop records.”
“I don’t care if you use pots and pans, whatever you use, as long as the party rocks, that’s all that matters.”

Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’ is Spotify’s Most-Played Song Ever
Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” has reached 200 million streams, making it Spotify’s most-streamed song of all-time. The Swedish producer’s Aloe Blacc-assisted hit surpassed “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons, which takes the number two position at 182 million streams.
“I’m so excited to be the first artist to reach 200 million streams on Spotify. I’ve had an amazing year, so a massive thanks to all of my fans!”

DJ R-Tistic Wins 2014 McDonald’s Flavor Battle
Congratulations to DJcity Trends contributor DJ R-Tistic for winning the 2014 McDonald’s Flavor Battle National DJ Competition! The Los Angeles native took the title Wednesday night in a battle against fellow finalists DJ Niena Drake of Chicago and DJ Erika B of Newport News, Virginia. The prize was $10,000.
“Winning McDonald’s Flavor Battle is the greatest accomplishment I have made as a DJ thus far…I am thankful McDonald’s gave all 12 DJs the opportunity to display our skills and go head-to-head for the title.”
The battle was hosted by the legendary Funkmaster Flex and judged by DeeJay Element, DJ Clue, DJ Spinderella and Just Blaze.
