The Samples Behind Cypress Hill’s Debut Album

Power 106 has released a new episode of Wax Only in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Cypress Hill’s debut self-titled album.

The series was created by Power’s Production Director, Vin Rican, to showcase classic hip-hop albums and the samples behind them.

Released on August 13, 1991, Cypress Hill featured classics like “How I Could Just Kill a Man” and “The Phuncky Feel One.” Both songs peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Singles chart. The album’s third single, “Hand on the Pump,” reached No. 2 on the chart.
